Hello Ohio APCO!
April 8th marks the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW). This annual event held during the second week of April is where telecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are honored nationally.
37 years ago, NPSTW began as a grassroots movement in California as a way to thank telecommunicators. Ten years later, this movement was formalized by Congress who officially designated the second week of each April as a time to recognize, thank, and celebrate those who dedicate their lives to serving the public.
In recognition of NPSTW, the Ohio APCO Executive Board and I extends our appreciation to the telecommunicators, radio technicians, communications supervisors, and other public safety communications personnel for their sacrifice and important work they do everyday to keep their communities, and public safety personnel safe and secure.
This week is for you! I encourage all of you to celebrate and honor yourselves and your co-workers, you deserve it! Thanks for all you do!
