Mike Banks Appointed Second Vice President

At the quarterly chapter meeting held on Wednesday February 13th, Chapter President Holly Wayt accepted the resignation of Mel Meloy from the position of Second Vice President. In accordance with the chapter bylaws, President Wayt appointed Mike Banks of the Wadsworth Police Department to fill the remainder of the term. Mike was sworn in to office by Immediate Past President Jay Somerville and will serve as Second Vice President until the new slate of officers is installed at the May chapter meeting.

Mike has been a Communications Operator with the Wadsworth Police Department since 1999 and serves as a CTO and telecommunicator instructor for the agency. Mike is also a part-time EMT for the City of Ritman and holds a Technician Class amateur radio license.

In 2007, Mike received the designation of Registered Public-Safety Leader after being part of the first graduating class of the APCO RPL Leadership Certificate Program.

Mike has also been nominated for the position of First Vice President and is scheduled to take that office when sworn in at the May 14th chapter meeting.

President Wayt would like to thank Mel Meloy for his service to the chapter both as an officer and past conference chairman. Mel plans to continue as an active member of the chapter.
